মোহাম্মদ নাজিম উদ্দিনের নিরীক্ষাধর্মী একটি কাজ । তার আগের কাজগুলোর তুলনায় একেবারেই ভিন্ন । ‘কেউ কথা রাখেনি’ একটি কাব্যিক অভিব্যক্তি । ঢালাও অভিযোগও বলা চলে । কিন্তু সত্যটা হলো, কেউ কেউ কথা রাখে।
অস্থির আর ঝঞ্ঝাবিক্ষুদ্ধ সময়ে ঘটে যাওয়া একটি খুনের রহস্য উদঘাটনে মরিয়া ভিন্ন মত আর স্বভাবের দু-জন মানুষ । অভিনবভাবে এক সন্দেহভাজনের সন্ধান পেলো তারা, অনেক কষ্টে তাকে ধরাও হলো কিন্তু হত্যারহস্য আর মীমাংসা করা গেলো না । এ ঘটনাটা বদলে দিলো তদন্তকারি দু-জনসহ আরো কিছু মানুষের জীবন ।
দুই যুগ পর স্মৃতিভারাক্রান্ত এক লেখক ব্যস্ত হয়ে পড়লো সেই হত্যারহস্য নিয়ে । চমকে যাবার মতো একটি ঘটনার মুখোমুখি হতে হলো তাকে । বিস্ময়কর সত্যটা জেনে যাবার পরও নতুন এক সঙ্কটে নিপতিত হলো সে-
