পুষ্প বৃক্ষ এবং বিহঙ্গ পুরাণ আহমদ ছফার একটি উপন্যাস। প্রিয় শিক্ষক আবদুর রাজ্জাককে যেরকম শ্রদ্ধা মিশ্রিত ভালবাসার সাথে “যদ্যপি আমার গুরু” তে তুলে ধরেছেন ঠিক একই ভাবে স্নেহ আর মমতামাখা বর্ণনায় তাঁর প্রিয় ফুল, গাছ-তরু-লতা আর পাখিদের এনেছেন “পুষ্প বৃক্ষ এবং বিহঙ্গ পুরাণ” এ।
ভূমিকায় সলিমুল্লাহ খান খুব জোরেসোরে বলার চেষ্টা করেছেন এই বইয়ের আসল কাহিনী মানুষের। এসব ব্যাখ্যা কেন জানি না আমি মানতে পারিনি। আমার চোখে এই বইটি বরং পুষ্প বৃক্ষ আর বিহঙ্গ – প্রকৃতির এই সন্তানদের সাথে ছফার মেলবন্ধন আর মিতালির গল্প, অনেকখানি স্মৃতিচারণ মূলকও বটে। বন-পাখি আর প্রকৃতি যদি ভাল লাগে তাহলে এই বই মনে স্থান করে নেবেই, আর যদি এসব নিয়ে অতটা এখনও না ভেবে থাকেন, তাহলে অবশ্যই ভাবতে শেখাবে।
খুব ইচ্ছে করবে ওরকম একটি চিলেকোঠার ছাদে নয়নতারা আর তুলসী গাছের আদরমাখা স্পর্শে দাঁড়িয়ে রুটির টুকরো আর খুদকুঁড়ো হাতে নিয়ে পাখিদের খাওয়াতে। যে মমতা লেখকের বুক থেকে লেখার পাতায় স্থান নিয়ে একদিন পাঠকের হৃদয়েও জায়গা করে নেয়- এতখানি মমতা দিয়ে খুব বড় মাপের লেখকের পক্ষেই লেখা সম্ভব।

He was born 30 June 1943 in Gachbaria, Chittagong, Bangladesh and died on 28 July 2001, Dhaka. Ahmed Sofa helped establishing Bangladesh Lekhak Shibir (Bangladesh Writers' Camp) in 1970. His first novel was Surjo Tumi Sathi which was published in 1967.
