খ্যাতিমান লেখক আহমদ ছফা (১৯৪৩-২০০১) বাংলাদেশের একজন প্রথিতযশা লেখক, সাংবাদিক, সমাজসেবক ও সর্বোপরি একজন চিন্তাবিদ। তিনি শুধু লেখার জন্য লিখতেন না, সমাজের ব্যাধিগুলো নিয়ে চিন্তা করে লিখতেন। এজন্যই মূলত তাঁর লেখাগুলো ফিকশনধর্মী না হয়ে প্রবন্ধমূলক হয়েছে। তাঁর সব লেখাতেই তিনি একটি ম্যাসেজ দিতে চেয়েছেন।
আহমদ ছফাকে জানার জন্য তাঁর মিজের ডায়েরির চেয়ে ভালো কোন উপায় আছে বলে মনে হয় না। সে সুযোগটি পাওয়া যাবে "আহমদ ছফার ডায়েরি" বইটিতে। আহমদ ছফার মৃত্যুর তিন বছর পর বইটি প্রকাশিত হয়। তিনি ডায়েরি লেখা শুরু করেন ১৯৭১ সালের ৩১ ডিসেম্বর থেকে। জার্মান লেখক গ্যয়টের ডায়েরি পড়ে তিনি ডায়েরি লিখতে উদ্বুদ্ধ হন। তবে তিনি একনাগাড়ে ডায়েরি লেখেননি। মাঝে লম্বা সময় বিরতি দিয়েছেন। তাঁর এক বন্ধু বাঁধানো খাতা দিয়ে কবিতা লিখতে বললে নতুন করে ডায়েরি লেখা শুরু করেন। ডায়েরিটি শেষ হয় ২৯ জুন ১৯৮২। এরপরের ঘটনাগুলো সম্ভবত লেখক ডায়েরি আকারে লেখেননি কিংবা বইটিতে ছাপানো হয়নি।
যতদিন ডায়েরি লিখেছেন, নিজের ব্যক্তিগত জীবনের প্রায় সব ঘটনাই ডায়েরিতে লিখে গেছেন ছফা। ছফার জীবনে আসা নারীদের নিয়ে তাঁর অনুভূতি, বিয়ে নিয়ে তাঁর ধারনা - কোন কিছুতেই কোন লুকোছাপা করেননি। সবশেষে বলবো, "আহমদ ছফার ডায়েরি" পড়ে প্রত্যকেরই ইচ্ছে হবে ডায়েরি লেখার। বইটি উৎসর্গ করা হয়েছে ছিন্নমূল শিশুদেরকে। (Book Review: Good Reads)
Ahmod Sofar Diary by Ahmed Sofa is a popular Bengali Book and one of Popular Diary, Autobiography of Ahmed Sofa. Sofa ridiculed Bangladeshi society by making caricatures of the people of this highest education center. Ahmed Sofa was famous Bengali writer, poet, translator and Intellectual. He was born 30 June 1943 in Gachbaria, Chittagong, Bangladesh and died on 28 July 2001, Dhaka. Ahmed Sofa helped establishing Bangladesh Lekhak Shibir (Bangladesh Writers' Camp) in 1970. His first novel was Surjo Tumi Sathi which was published in 1967.
