আশাপূর্না দেবীর বিখ্যাত একটি ত্রিলজী হচ্ছে,প্রথম প্রতিশ্রুতি,সূবর্নলতা আর বকুলকথা।এর মধ্যে সূবর্নলতাই জনপ্রিয় বেশী। জাত, জায়গা, পরিবেশ বদলানো গেলেও রক্ত তো আর বদলানো যায় না। কথাটা সুবর্ণলতার। একটা মেয়ে কত আর পারবে? কত চেষ্টা করবে? নিজের বাবার সাথে, শ্বশুর বাড়ির সাথে, জামাইয়ের সাথে তাদের পরিবার পরিজনের সাথে, মোট কথা পুরো সমাজ আর দুনিয়ার সাথেই তাকে লড়তে হয়। শুধু মাত্র নিজের একটুকরো স্বাধীনতার জন্য। যখন এদের সাথে লড়াই করে হাঁপিয়ে ওঠে, তখন চায় নিজের ছেলে মেয়ে অন্তত যেন এমন স্বাধীনতার জন্য লড়াই করতে না হয়। সেভাবেই গড়তে চায়। হায় রাম, সেখানেও যে বিপত্তি। পুতুল খেলার বয়সে বিয়ের মতো একটা আদিম আর বাস্তব খেলায় মাতিয়ে দিয়ে বড়রা তো খুব বাচা বেঁচে যায়। পরের অধ্যায় গুলোর খেয়াল যে তাদের আর রাখার দায় নেই সেটাও সুন্দর ভাবেই বুঝিয়ে দেয়। এখনো এই রীতিটা রয়েই গেছে। আর যারা এই রীতির ধার ধারে না সমাজ তাদের এখনো ওই চোখেই দেখে। সুবর্ণলতা একজন বীরাঙ্গনাই ছিলেন। নিজের মান সম্মান নিয়ে যে নিজের সংগ্রাম করে গেছেন আমরণ পর্যন্ত।
