‘জোছনা ও জননীর গল্প ‘ হুমায়ুন আহমেদ এর মুক্তিযুদ্ধ ভিত্তিক উপন্যাস। এই উপন্যাসে তিনি মুক্তিযুদ্ধের পুরো নয় মাসকেই তুলে ধরেছেন। ভিন্ন ভিন্ন কয়েকটি পরিবারের ঘটনার মাধ্যমে ১৯৭১ সালের অবস্থা বর্ণনা করেছেন। বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধকে কেন্দ্র করে এক রক্তক্ষয়ী, বর্বর অত্যাচারের ও সাধারণ মানুষের দুঃখ কষ্টের কাহিনী। হুমায়ুন আহমেদ এই উপন্যাসে তাঁর পরিবারের সেই সময়কার অবস্থাও তুলে ধরেছেন। হুমায়ুন আহমেদ এর বাবা ছিলেন একজন পুলিশ ও মুক্তিযোদ্ধা। তাই ১৯৭১ সালের পুরোটা সময় তাদের পালিয়ে বেড়াতে হয়। উপন্যাসে তিনি পাকিস্তানিদের অত্যাচারের যেসব বর্ণনা দিয়েছেন তা শিউরে উঠার মতো।
