প্রথম প্রতিশ্রুতি বিখ্যাত ভারতীয় বাঙালি লেখিকা আশাপূর্ণা দেবীর একটি বিখ্যাত উপন্যাস। এই উপন্যাসের জন্য তিনি ভারতের সর্বোচ্চ সাহিত্য সম্মান জ্ঞানপীঠ পুরস্কার লাভ করেন। পরবর্তী কালে এই উপন্যাসটি অবলম্বনে একটি বাংলা সিনেমাও তৈরি হয় ১৯৭১ সালে। এটি একটি উপন্যাস ত্রয়ীর প্রথম উপন্যাস। পরবর্তী দুটি উপন্যাসের নাম হল সুবর্ণলতা এবং বকুলকথা।
আঠারো এবং উনিশ শতকের প্রেক্ষাপটে লেখিকা আশাপূর্ণা দেবী তাঁর ত্রয়ী উপন্যাসের প্রথম বই প্রথম প্রতিশ্রুতিতে তৎকালীন সমাজ এবং ধর্মীয় ব্যবস্থাপনায় অদ্ভুত এক প্রাণীর অস্তিত্বের কথা ব্যক্ত করেছেন। যাদের অবয়ব, অনুভূতি, আবেগ সবকিছু মানুষের মত হলেও তাদের খানিকটা ভারবাহী পশুর মত ব্যবহার করত পুরুষ শাসিত সমাজ। সেই অদ্ভুত প্রাণিটির নাম ছিল নারী। নির্মম হলেও সত্যি তৎকালীন নারীদের প্রতি পুরুষ সমাকের আচরণ আর যাই হোক মানবিক ছিল না। হাজার বছরের মরীচা ধরা সংস্কারের শেকলে নারীরা যখন মানুষের সম্মান পায়নি তখন নিত্যানন্দপুর নামক অজপাড়া গায়ে একটি এগারো বছরের শিশুকন্যা সেই সংস্কারের শেকলে কষাঘাত করে, জানিয়ে দেয় আমরাও (নারীরা) মানুষ। আর নারী থেকে মানুষ হবার সেই শিশুকন্যার সারা জীবনের অপরাজিত সংগ্রামের গল্প নিয়েই রচিত হয়েছে প্রথম প্রতিশ্রুতি।
Pratham Pratisruti is novel which is written by Ashapurna Devi. Ashapurna Devi is Bengali novelist and poet of India. She was born in 8th January 1909 in Calcutta and Died in 13th July 1995. She has got many awarded for her literature and writings. She was awarded 1976 Jnanpith Award and the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1976.
