১৯১০ সালে রচিত গোরা উপন্যাসটি সে সময় এক আলোড়ন তুলেছিল। পরাধীন ভারতবর্ষে গোরার ভেতর নিজেদের খুঁজে পেয়েছিল বাংলার দামাল ছেলেরা। গোরা দেখিয়েছিল কিভাবে সকল ধর্ম মতের উর্ধ্বে মানুষকে মানুষ বলে গণ্য করতে হয়।
গোরা রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের একটি উপন্যাস। এটি ১৮৮০-এর দশকে ব্রিটিশ রাজত্বকালের সময়কার কলকাতার পটভূমিতে লেখা। এটি লেখার ক্রমে পঞ্চম এবং ঠাকুরের বারোটি উপন্যাসের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে দীর্ঘতম। এটি রাজনীতি এবং ধর্ম নিয়ে দার্শনিক বিতর্কে সমৃদ্ধ উপন্যাস। উপন্যাসে মুক্তি, সর্বজনীনতা, ভ্রাতৃত্ব, লিঙ্গ, নারীবাদ, বর্ণ, শ্রেণি, ঐতিহ্য বনাম আধুনিকতা, নগর অভিজাত বনাম গ্রামীণ কৃষক, ঐপনিবেশিক শাসন, জাতীয়তাবাদ এবং ব্রাহ্মসমাজ নিয়ে লেখা রয়েছে।
গোরা উপন্যাস দুই প্রেমিক জুটির দুটি সমান্তরাল প্রেমের গল্প নিয়ে গঠিত: গোরা এবং সুচরিতা, বিনয় এবং লোলিতা। এতে উনিশ শতকের শেষদিকে ভারতে প্রচলিত সামাজিক ও রাজনৈতিক সমস্যার পটভূমিতে তাদের আবেগপূর্ণ ক্রমবিকাশ দেখানো হয়েছে।

He born 7 May 1861 in Kolkata, India and Died 7 August 1941. He got Novel prize for Gitangoli in 1913. Gora is his one of most popular novel. Rabindranth is more popular among Bangladesh and India where he is called Bishwa Kabi.
