শহীদ বুদ্ধিজীবী মুনীর চৌধুরী রচিত রক্তাক্ত প্রান্তর বিখ্যাত নাটক । পানিপথের তৃতীয় যুদ্ধের কাহিনী এর মূল উপজীব্য। মুনীর চৌধুরী ১৯৫৯ সালে নাটকটি রচনা করেন। শুরুটা পানিপথের প্রান্তর। এপাশে বাগপথে মুসলিম শিবির, অন্যপাশে মারাঠাদের কুঞ্জুরপুর দুর্গ। দুপক্ষের মধ্যে যুদ্ধ শুরু হবে যে-কোনো সময়। দুপক্ষেরই চলেছে যুদ্ধের প্রস্তুতি-পরিকল্পনা। মুসলমানদের পক্ষে নেতৃত্ব দিচ্ছেন কাবুলের অধিপতি আহমেদ শাহ আবদালি, রোহিলার নবাব নজীবদ্দৌলা, অযোধ্যার নবাব সুজাউদ্দৌলা এবং মেহেদী বেগ-কন্যা জোহরা বেগম। অন্যদিকে মারাঠাদের পক্ষে নেতৃত্ব দিচ্ছেন বালাজি রাও পেশোয়া, ত্রিশূল বাহিনীর রঘুনাথ রাও, সদাশিব রাও এবং ইব্রাহিম কার্দি। মুসলিম পক্ষের জোহরা বেগমের স্বামী হিন্দুদের পক্ষের সেনাপতি ইব্রাহিম কার্দি। জোহরা বেগম বারবার ছদ্মবেশ ধারণ করে মারাঠা শিবিরে প্রবেশ করে স্বামী ইব্রাহিম কার্দিকে ফিরিয়ে আনার জন্য। কিন্তু ইব্রাহিম কার্দি নিজ সিদ্ধান্তে অনড়। আদর্শগত কারণেই জোহরা বেগমকে গভীরভাবে ভালোবাসলেও ফিরে আসতে নারাজ। কারণ ইব্রাহিম কার্দির যখন কোনো কর্মসংস্থান ছিল না তখন হিন্দু মারাঠাই তাকে চাকরি দিয়েছে এবং পদোন্নতিতে সেনাপতি বানিয়েছে। অতএব, মারাঠাদের বিপদের দিনে তাদের ফেলে সে চলে আসবে না। অন্যদিকে জোহরা বেগমও তার জায়গায় অনড়। হিন্দু-মুসলিম দুপক্ষই পরস্পরকে নিশ্চিহ্ন করে দেওয়ার আক্রোশে ক্রমশ ফেটে পড়ে। এমতাবস্থায় হঠাৎ করে অতর্কিত যুদ্ধ শুরু হয়ে যায়। প্রতিটা যুদ্ধ মানেই মৃত্যু, ধ্বংস, বিভীষিকা। এই যুদ্ধেও বয়ে যায় রক্ত সমুদ্র। যে সমুদ্রের জলকে কালি করেই লিখা হয় এর পরিসমাপ্তি, এক বেদনাময় উপাখ্যান, দর্শক সয়ং পৌঁছে যায় রক্তাক্ত প্রান্তরে। (Book Review: Good Reads)

Roktakto Prantor Bangla Drama was first published in 1959 and it is one of the most popular books of Munir Chowdhury. Munier Chowdhury was a Bangladeshi educationist, playwright, literary critic and political dissident. He was born in 1925 at Manikganj, Dhaka. He's the brother of Kabir Chowdhury. Munir studied English literature for his Bachelors degree in 1946) and Masters in 1947 at the Dhaka University. Munier Chowdhury actively participated in the Language Movement of 1952 and was imprisoned by the Pakistan government. He wrote his famous symbolic drama, Kabar (The Grave) in Bengali during his imprisonment. 'Kabar' is a shadow of Irwin Shaw's 'Bury the Dead'. (Source: Good Reads).
